Oracle Red Bull Racing

Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez

The reigning champions go into the new season as favorites with Max Verstappen once again expected to be the man to beat. Last year was a record-breaking campaign for the Milton Keynes team, with Verstappen winning 19 races, while team-mate Sergio Pérez scored two. It meant they were victorious in every Grand Prix bar one. The excellent form of the RB19 meant Red Bull finished 1-2 in the FIA Formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship for the first time ever.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team

Lewis Hamilton, George Russell

The big news over the winter was the announcement this will be Lewis Hamilton’s final season in Mercedes colors before he switches to Ferrari in 2025. Having joined the team in 2013, Hamilton’s six titles with Mercedes has resulted in one of the most successful team/driver combinations in the history of the sport. But he has been winless for the past two seasons — can the W15 take the British driver to glory with Mercedes for one last time?

ScuderiaFerrari

CharlesLeclerc,CarlosSainz

Ferrari stopped Red Bull from scoring a complete clean sweep in 2023, when Carlos Sainz triumphed on the streets of Singapore. The Prancing Horse last won a world championship back in 2007 and both Charles Leclerc and Sainz will be pushing hard to bring title success back to Maranello. As part of that plan, Frédéric Vasseur was appointed team principal in 2023 and one of his first major acts was to sign Lewis Hamilton for next season.

McLaren F1 Team

Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri

Founded 30 years ago, this Surrey-based team famously dominated F1 during the 1980s and under the stewardship of Zak Brown, McLaren have started to return to the sharp end of the Formula 1 grid. During his five years at the Woking team, Lando Norris has scored 13 top-three finishes, but has still yet to stand on the top step of the podium — unlike his team-mate Oscar Piastri, who made his F1 debut last year and brilliantly won the Qatar Sprint.

Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team

Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll

One of the biggest surprises to the start of 2023 was the improvement in performance of the Aston Martin team, with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso scoring five podiums in the opening six races — and nearly winning in Monaco. With a boost of investment from owner Lawrence Stroll, the team opened a new headquarters opposite the Silverstone circuit last year. Alonso will be hoping for more success in 2024, alongside Lance Stroll on the other side of the garage.

BWT Alpine F1 Team

Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon

Under the ownership of parent company Renault, this team was rebadged Alpine, after the car maker’s sporty brand, at the start of 2021. Frenchman Esteban Ocon memorably scored his debut win at a wet/dry Hungarian Grand Prix that year and was joined by his compatriot Pierre Gasly at the team for the beginning of the 2023 season. With engines built in the Viry-Châtillon facility on the outskirts of Paris, this Anglo- French alliance is overseen by new team boss Bruno Famin.

Williams Racing

Alexander Albon, Logan Sargeant

Founded in the late 1970s, Williams are one of the most successful teams on the Formula 1 grid, having won a total of nine world championships in the 1980s and 1990s. But the team’s last Grand Prix win came in 2012, on the weekend of Sir Frank Williams’ 70th birthday. Sadly, Williams passed away in 2021 which coincided with the family selling the team to a new consortium called Dorilton Capital. Fort Lauderdale’s Logan Sargeant returns to the team for his second season in F1.

Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda

Red Bull acquired their second F1 team at the beginning of 2006, primarily to run juniors signed up to their Young Driver Program. Alumni include world champions Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. For this season, the team has a new name, RB, and the chassis that eight-time Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo and Japan’s Yuki Tsunoda will pilot in 2024 is the VCARB 01. Based in Faenza, Italy, the squad continues to be powered by Honda’s partnership with Red Bull Powertrains.

Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber

Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu

Another team that has undergone a re-vamp for 2024 is the Swiss Sauber team. Following the end of the sponsorship agreement with Alfa Romeo, the outfit is now known as the Stake F1 Team, running a Kick Sauber C44 this year, and both Valtteri Bottas and China’s Zhou Guanyu are noticeable on track thanks to the team’s new luminous-green livery. This outfit continues to be in a holding pattern before German car manufacturer Audi fully takes over from 2026 onwards.

MoneyGram Haas F1 Team

Nico Hülkenberg, Kevin Magnussen

After winning the NASCAR Cup title with joint owner Tony Stewart, Haas decided to graduate to Formula 1 at the start of 2016. Despite scoring points on their debut, this small team — with satellite operations in the UK, Italy and North Carolina — have yet to achieve a podium in their eight years in the sport so far. At the start of this year, charismatic team principal Guenther Steiner left the organization and was replaced by engineer Ayao Komatsu.
