This year’s FIA Formula One World Championship was one of the most epic battles in Formula 1 history. Across the record-breaking 24-race season, there were seven different F1 drivers winning races from four different teams. Max Verstappen began the season dominantly, winning four of the first five races. However, when Lando Norris claimed his maiden Grand Prix victory at the Miami International Autodrome in May, the McLaren F1 team emerged as Red Bull’s primary challenger.

Ferrari also impressed throughout 2024. After Carlos Sainz was sidelined in Jeddah due to appendicitis, he returned to win in Australia. The Maranello squad celebrated emotional victories, with Charles Leclerc triumphing in Monaco and the team securing a home victory at Monza. Mercedes also found success, with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton both taking wins.

One of the season’s standout moments came at Silverstone, where Hamilton delivered an extraordinary victory in front of his home fans. Russell, meanwhile, capitalized on a collision between Norris and Verstappen in Austria to claim a win and seemed poised for another triumph at Spa, only for his car to be disqualified for being underweight.

After a team orders controversy in Hungary, Oscar Piastri achieved his first F1 victory for McLaren, later adding a second win on the streets of Baku. Despite a ten-race winless streak mid-season, Verstappen remained in contention and sealed his title challenge in Las Vegas after a brilliant wet-weather win in Brazil. The Dutchman now joins Formula 1 legends Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel as a four-time champion. After an incredible 2024 season, the stage is set for another thrilling campaign in 2025.
